The PinPoint Sigma is designed as an affordable, flexible and modular PCB test and fault finding system. With the ability to apply multiple different test methods at the PCB edge connector or to each IC and device in-circuit through a test clip or DTI you can achieve excellent test coverage and accurate and reliable PCB fault finding.

The PinPoint Sigma has been designed with flexible and modular expansion of test resources having 10 configurable external slots available for Digital, Universal and Matrix routing channels. The system can be tailored to provide the test resources you require in a cost effective manner and then be expanded to meet any changing requirements when required

Addressing latest and legacy PCBs, the PinPoint Sigma offers a compact footprint while being transportable to provide industry leading PCB fault screening, PCB troubleshooting, PCB test and fault finding where needed.

Scalable Architecture and Performance

PinPoint Sigma is a modular, high specification test system, which can be upgraded with functionality and performance as required. The affordable scalable architecture provides you with high specification test capability while delivering industry-leading performance.

High Speed for in-depth test and PCB safety

High-test speeds and test pattern rates are essential to provide in-depth test of ICs while protecting other devices from extended backdrive currents.

The PinPoint Sigma has test pattern rates up to 25MHz (25 million test patterns a second), which allows in-depth test of an IC to be performed within the industry recommended 20m second window for safe in-circuit testing. For additional safety a hardware timer removes the test stimulus at the end of the programmable test period.

Vectorless test methods are also supported by the PinPoint Sigma and these can be applied to test for open or short circuits, resistive, capacitive and inductive faults and also for testing semiconductor junctions.

Modular flexibility

PinPoint Sigma is a compact and transportable system. It provides excellent fault screening, test and diagnostic capability where and when needed. The modular architecture allows you to have a fully configured system in the base workshop, or depot repair center, and a PinPoint Sigma or PinPoint Alpha with sub-set of the configuration used to test specific PCBs in other locations.

The standard PinPoint Sigma provides 32 universal test channels with switching matrix, 4 1/2 digit DMM, analog signatures, UUT power supplies, tutorial, manual, accessory pack and standard TestVue license. With an integrated PC the system is ready to use out-of-the-box.

Accurate and reliable fault detection and identification

Combining multiple different test methods in a single graphical TestFlow program provides excellent fault detection and accurate fault identification. Test methods supported include:

  • Functional PCB edge connector tests
  • Functional in-circuit testing of a single component or IC
  • Boundary scan testing at a device level and through a chain
  • Passive and active analog testing
  • Mixed-signal functional test
  • Vectorless test
  • VI Impedance signatures
  • PCB parameter testing

Advanced Analog Test

The advanced analog test functionality includes DMM, Arbitrary Waveform Generator, Oscilloscope, Counter-Timer, Shorts Locator, Precision Measurement Module (PMU), LCR Bridge, VI Impedance Signatures, Programmable user power supplies – extending test capability to achieve maximum test coverage and excellent fault detection.
